so far, everything I ship is a URL
- half of the reason is arithmetic
  - one person can't build and maintain native iOS and Android apps alone
  - one web build works on every phone in the group chat
- the other half is control
  - Apple and Google decide what goes in their stores
  - on the web, I put the thing up and it is live
- when the browser can't do the job, native is the fallback
  - iOS won't let a browser tab read location in the background
  - the plan: web stays the main one, but I haven't tried this yet
- the cost is discoverability and reach, and so far it has not mattered
